“Who, and what are you?” Scrooge demanded.
“I am the Ghost of Christmas Past.”
“Long Past?” inquired Scrooge: observant of its dwarfish stature.
“No. Your past.”
– A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens
As we prepare for our 2017 Hearing for the Holidays Mission, we are mindful to reflect on the past years, and to thank all of the volunteers, partners and friends who have made our efforts possible.
“Hearing for the Holidays” started from a casual conversation in 2012. Sheryl and I were flying back from an international mission, while discussing what one of our patients had asked Sheryl, “When will you do a mission in Youngstown?”. It didn’t take long for us to agree, “WHY NOT Youngstown?”
After a lot of planning, within a couple months we completed our first local “Hearing for the Holidays” mission. At the time, little did we know, this would create such a passion for so many of our volunteers to serve. We all look forward to this time of the year, a truly magical moment for so many during the holiday season.
Our hearts are filled with memories of patient’s past. These special individuals who have forever touched our hearts with their smiles, hugs and gratitude.
We hope you’ll continue with us on our journey as we move ahead in 2017 with an eye on 2018!
