One of the most asked questions I get from new hearing aid wearers is how to travel with hearing aids.Traveling with hearing aids doesn’t have to be difficult, especially if you plan on flying to your destination.Fortunato and I recently went to Las Vegas, Nevada for a Starkey Hearing Technologies Educational event and I can attest to how easy it is to fly with hearing aids. I left my hearing aids on as I walked through security, made sure to pack my charging base in my carry-on, and that was it.My aids weren’t picked up by any of the TSA machines either. When traveling, make sure to keep your hearing aids on so that they’re safe and won’t get lost.The sky’s the limit when you have your best possible hearing!

1. “Hear Love” Mission: In a few weeks the Hearing Missions Foundation, in coordination with the Mission of Love, will be traveling out to a Native American reservation for the Lakota Oglala Nation in South Dakota for their first “Hear Love” hearing mission.There is such a huge need for help; many individuals on the reservation face poverty and lack basic healthcare.Unfortunately there are no hearing care providers on or in close proximity to the reservation. While in South Dakota, 35 individuals will be helped.Local continuing care will also be established.

3. Better Hearing & Speech Month: Throughout the month of May we celebrated Better Hearing and Speech Month. The month of May is designated to bring awareness about hearing and speech problems and to encourage people to think about their own hearing health.

Who We Are Celebrating…

Ever since Roderick received his hearing aids in December, he has been “determined to make the sounds of noise heard.” Roderick Dixon, a hearing aid recipient from the Hearing Missions Foundation, has had severe hearing loss since a very young age.He is now able to identify sounds and most importantly connect with people. Roderick aims to showcase the value of improved hearing, even making an appearance on the Louie B.
